There is still time to register for the RCMP's Girls' Fitness for Fun.
Although the first session is this Thursday, registrations will accepted until next Tuesday, RCMP community policing coordinator Linda Parker said.
So far, about 30 have signed up for the program, which gives girls ages nine to 13 years old an opportunity to try out a wide variety of activities, such as running, The Groove workout method, taekwondo, snow shoeing, belly dancing, roller skating and bowling, all at no cost and in a safe environment.
Most of the eight weekly session will be held at South Fort George Family Resource Centre, 1200 LaSalle Avenue, from 4 to 5:15 p.m., although some will be held at other venues.
More than 50 girls participated in last year's edition. It's an offshoot of the 10-week Run For Fun program that runs during the spring and where girls learn how to train for a five-kilometre road race.
Registration forms are available online at www.communitypolicing.princegeorge.ca, at the RCMPs Community Policing office at 575 Brunswick Street, and at the Prince George RCMP detachment located at 999 Brunswick Street.
Parker can be reached by calling 250-561-3319.
