As of noon Tuesday, the Prince George Fire Centre has lifted a ban on open fires in the region, due to a decreased risk of wildfires.
The allowance applies to all B.C. Parks, Crown lands and private lands, but doesn't apply to areas within the boundary of a local government that has fire prevention bylaws.
Fires should not be lit or kept during windy conditions and anyone who lights a fire must have sufficient personnel, water and tools on hand to keep the fire from spreading.
Anyone wanting to light a Category 3 fire - burning materials piled more than two metres high or three metres wide, or grass over more than 2,000 square metres - must obtain a burn registration number first, by calling 1-888-797-1717.
