Baljit Sethi's trophy cabinet is getting full.

The founder of the Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society (IMSS) was bestowed another honour last week for her many years of service.

The Affiliation of Multicultural Societies and Service Agencies (AMSSA) handed out their 2012 Diversity Awards in Vancouver on Sept. 28.

Sethi, executive director at IMSS, was on hand to receive the Staff Service Recognition Award, which spotlights her work as an activist and advocate for newcomers and multiculturalism for nearly 40 years.

"It was a challenging experience for both the awards committee and the board of directors," said AMSSA president Carol Wutzke. "All of the nominees were outstanding and have greatly contributed to diversity in British Columbia."

Sethi was recognized, out of a pool of five nominees, as the longest-serving worker in the immigrant and integration sector, having begun her work with as a family counsellor with the Immigrant Services Society of B.C. in 1974.

This is the second consecutive win for IMSS. Last year, Joan Haack, co-ordinator of the society's English Language Services for Adults program, was presented with the same award.
