Matters to be remembered

The family of Greg Matters will hold a funeral on Friday to honour his life.

Matters was killed Sept. 10 after a 30-hour standoff with RCMP in Pineview. A retired member of the Canadian Forces, Matters was battling post traumatic stress disorder at the time of his death.

The funeral will take place on at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church. Following the funeral the family will hold a private internment service. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting people make donations to the Wounded Warriors Fund.

The provincial Independent Investigations Office is investigating the police shooting and there will likely be a coroner's inquest into the death.
