Suspected jewel thieves, armed robber appear in court

Suspects from two armed robberies this week made their first appearances in court on Thursday.

Dillon Benjamen Ertmoed, 22, and Raymond Jarrod Constant Pruden-Collins, 21, face several charges in relation to the robbery of a jewelry store at Pine Centre Mall on Wednesday morning.

The two were apprehended Wednesday shortly after two masked men were seen entering Michael Hill Jewellers just before 11 a.m., then smashing some display cases and making off with a number of items.

They have been charged with robbery, disguising a face with intent to commit an offence, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and mischief $5,000 or under.

Pruden-Collins was also charged with possessing a prohibited weapon without a licence and knowingly possessing a prohibited weapon without a licence.

Two cans of bear spray were found and a mallet were seized during the arrests, Prince George RCMP have said.

According to court records, neither of the two appear to have a criminal record and police do not believe they were involved in the two holdups of the Subway restaurants last Friday night or the gas station at Fifth and Carney on Monday evening.

Both of those incidents involved handguns and a suspect, Raymond Douglas Petticott, 22, of Calgary, was arrested Wednesday morning in connection with the gas station robbery and faces a charge of using a restricted or prohibited firearm in the commission of an offence.

All three remain in custody and their next appearances are set for Wednesday.
