Kodiak Classic swinging into action

High school volleyball is back in season.

The annual PGYVC Kodiak Classic will hit the courts Friday and Saturday at College Heights secondary, D.P. Todd secondary and the College of New Caledonia.

On the boys side of the draw, eight teams are entered. Duchess Park, D.P. Todd, Kelly Road and Hudson's Hope are grouped in one pool, while College Heights, Cedars Christian, PGSS and Duchess Park 2 are in the other. Preliminary matches will start Friday at 4 p.m. at College Heights. The playoff round will begin Saturday morning, also at College Heights, and medal games will be played at CNC later in the day (bronze at 4:40 p.m., gold at 6 p.m.).

The girls side of the Kodiak Classic features 14 teams divided into four pools. Teams are: Pool A -- College Heights, D.P. Todd and Correlieu; Pool B -- PGSS, Duchess Park and Chetwynd; Pool C -- Kelly Road, Smithers, Fort St. James and Mackenzie; and Pool D -- Cedars Christian, Caledonia, Hudson's Hope and Duchess Park Junior A.

Opening games will be played Friday at 4 p.m. at D.P. Todd and CNC. Playoffs will commence at both schools at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Medal matches, as with the boys, will be held at 4:40 p.m. and 6 p.m. at CNC.
