Explosives remain missing

The search remains ongoing for two boxes of dynamite reported to have fallen off a freight truck near Terrace two weeks ago.

Police are asking anyone with information on where the boxes may be to immediately contact them and are warning the items pose a serious safety hazard.

"The explosives do pose a health and safety risk to individuals not trained in handling it in addition to the risk to the general public should it not be properly stored at this time," said RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.

Investigators have determined that three boxes fell off the truck on July 16, sometime around on noon, between the four and six kilometre markers on the West Kalum Forest Service Road. One box was recovered within about a half hour but the two others were not.

Officials at Orica Mining Services have warned that extreme instances of shock, friction or mechanical impact can set off the dynamite, which goes by the brand name PowerPro.
