The College Heights Pub Assault held off the BX Pub Bandits and put themselves in an enviable position in the Prince George Senior Lacrosse Association playoff championship series.

Wednesday night at the Coliseum, the Assault edged the Bandits 13-11 and grabbed a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven final.

In a back-and-forth contest, John Makowsky of the Assault fired the winning goal at the 17:45 mark of the third period. The Bandits brought the score back to 12-11, only to see Chad Martin of the Assault seal the victory with a marker at 19:28.

Tyler Halliday and Drew Doig were the best of the Bandits. Halliday struck for five goals and Doig scored once and dished out seven assists.

The Assault led 6-3 after the first period and 10-7 after the second.

Winning goaltender Russill Mills finished with 33 saves. Jamie Thorne of the Bandits was much busier and made 53 stops.

The Assault won Game 1 of the series, held Monday, 17-11.
