Bomb squad called to Quince Street

An RCMP bomb squad was sent into the VLA on Friday morning to deal with what appeared to be a pipe bomb that had been left in a driveway.

A section of the 2100 block of Quince Street was evacuated and blocked off for several hours before police determined that while it contained material that could make up a bomb, it was not functional.

The former occupant of the duplex where the device had been left are known to police. Cleaning staff who had been sent to the unit following the tenant's eviction found the device.
