Serious car accident closes Yellowhead Bridge

A car left the road westbound just before the Yellowhead Bridge at about 5:19 a.m.

"It appears the vehicle went off road just before the bridge, struck the starting point of the cement meridian, which is like a ramp," said Const. Craig Douglass. "Went over that and rolled at least a few hundred feet going down towards the railroad tracks. By the looks of it, with my experience, I believe speed is a factor. We did an extensive search of the area but we were unable to locate anyone else so it appears one person was in the vehicle."

The lone male is in critical condition at the hospital.

The Yellowhead Bridge is closed in both directions as a result of the accident.
