A house fire in 100 Mile House on Thursday led police to a marijuana grow-op on the same property.
According to Sgt. Don McLean, emergency responders were called to a residential fire on Monday but police were soon summoned to join them.
During the fire investigation, a marijuana grow operation was discovered in an adjoining shop on the property. The occupants of the residence were arrested.
RCMP located 219 marijuana plants in various stages of production, 2.5 kilograms of marijuana bud and marijuana production equipment. The drugs seized had an estimated street value of $140,000.
The two in custody are a 36-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man. Formal charges are pending. The pair were released until their next court date.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
