Drugs suspected in teen death

Quesnel RCMP are investigating the death of a 15-year-old boy.

Shortly after 2 p.m. on Friday, Quesnel police were called to a home in the 400 block of Baker Drive, after the teenager was found inside.

The teen was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations by the RCMP and B.C. Coroners Service indicate drugs could be a factor in the boy's death. An autopsy is scheduled later this week to confirm the cause of death.

No foul play is suspected.

RCMP have not released the name of the boy, pending notification of the family. RCMP Victim Services is working with community agencies to provide grief counseling for those close to the boy.

Anyone with information about the death is asked to call Quesnel RCMP at 250-992-9211.
