Colleen Sparrow is the Prince George Citizen's new full-time publisher.

Sparrow, who had been holding the post on an interim basis since Hugh Nicholson left in January, was named to the position Monday by Tim Shoults, regional manager for Glacier Media's Interior newspapers.

"Colleen's experience, boundless energy and enthusiasm and dedication to the Citizen and to Glacier will serve her and all of us very well," Shoults said.

Sparrow has worked for the Citizen since 1991 when she started in the business office and moved to circulation the next year.

She became circulation manager in 2002 and since the Citizen's acquisition by Glacier she has taken on additional responsibilities as regional director of distribution and circulation.

Nicholson is now the regional manager for Glacier's Vancouver Island newspapers.
