One aspect of suspicious death in Fort St. James has been resolved.
North District Major Crime investigators have confirmed that the human remains located on a vacant property along Lower Road in the Nak'azdii reserve belong to Fribjon Bjornson.
Bjornson, 28, from Vanderhoof, was reported missing Jan. 21. On Jan. 23, the blue 1990 Chevrolet pickup he was driving was located near Fort St. James.
"Investigators remain in the community and are asking anyone with information about the disappearance of Fribjon Bjornson and the ongoing investigation to please contact police," said provincial RCMP spokesperson Annie Linteau.
The motive and exact cause of death remain under investigation at this time and RCMP are "attempting to gather evidence and ascertain the events that lead to Fribjon's death," Linteau added.
Anyone who may have seen Bjornson or his vehicle after he was reported missing on Jan. 21 or who has information about his death is asked to contact the Fort St. James RCMP at 250-996-8269 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
