Colin James is coming to Vanier Hall during Up Close and Personal: An Acoustic Tour with special guest Chris Caddell Oct. 29.
James has a career that spans two decades in which he has recorded more than a dozen albums that have reached multi-platinum status many times over.
His concert tours continue to sell out from coast to coast, year after year. His strong guitar talent and commanding stage presence makes each show a treat for the audience.
The upcoming show will be in a more intimate setting, offering the audience the opportunity to enjoy stories James will share as well as exploring more of his ballads.
As a child, James was introduced to all kinds of music by his parents who loved to go to coffee houses and music festivals. After learning to play guitar he joined many groups as a teen, focusing on traditional roots music.
After briefly venturing into the punk genre, he quickly reverted back to blues and spent years playing festivals before forming his first band The Hoodoo Men in Regina where he opened for George Thorogood and John Lee Hooker.
James studied great blues artists like Ry Cooder, Otis Rush, Albert King, Junior Wells and Buddy Guy and Stevie Ray Vaughan and knew this was his music.
After opening for Vaughan, James made an impression on audiences and became a sought after musician. This led to the career he enjoys today.
