Tweens hold off Houston in rematch

The Prince George PPWC Tweens didn't enjoy a Saturday night drubbing at the hands of Houston.

The 9-3 loss in the annual Joy Hoffman Memorial ringette tournament was painfully fresh in their minds when they lined up for a Sunday morning rematch. The Prince George players had all the motivation they needed to produce a more satisfying result. Redemption came in the form of an 8-6 victory.

"Everybody played within the game plan," said P.G. coach Bill Engler, whose club is also sponsored by the Prince George Realtors. "They moved the ring, got to the open ice, and everybody played a role. It was a total team effort."

During the three-day tournament, held at the Kin Centre, the Tweens skated to a 3-1 record. Competing in the Under-14 division, the local club also beat Quesnel by scores of 7-2 and 9-5.

Offensively, Caylee Lazar, Lindsay Gervais and Madison Landry were the sharpest shooters for PPWC. Between them, they scored 19 goals.
