    B.C's best taking aim

    The sound of iron shoes clanging on steel posts can only mean one thing.

    The B.C. provincial horseshoe pitching championships have arrived in Prince George.

    The two-day tournament starts today at 9 a.m. at the Carrie Jane Gray Park home of the Prince George Horseshoe Club, with more than 100 players expected.

    Ida Boschman (senior ladies), Vic Vallee (senior men 40-foot) and Leo Anderson (senior men 30-foot) all won their respective classes last weekend at the Prince George Open tournament and they're planning on making it tough for their provincial competitors this weekend.

    Other winners from the Prince George Open, including Lou Busch (Nanaimo), Cheyann Newman (Quesnel), Elaine Stern (Prince George), Helen Boudreau (Quesnel) and Joe Brietkopf (Quesnel), would also like to get their hands on a provincial title.

    Play continues Sunday at 8:30 a.m.

    A walking doubles event is also scheduled for a 9 a.m. start on Labour Day Monday.
