Cory Watts was looking for a new challenge.

Pushing one kid around the streets of Prince George at a running gallop was not enough for the 39-year-old, so he'll be doubling his pleasure in Sunday's 37th annual Labour Day Classic road race.

He's the engine for his two kids -- three year-old daughter Morgan and the new arrival, his three-month old Sebastian -- in a side-by-side stroller.

"If they both will get in it, I'll race," said Watts, winner of the parent-with-baby-stroller class the past three years.

His younger child has so far proven he's not afraid to exercise his lungs.

"I haven't slept in three months," sighed Cory.

The Labour Day Classic will be a truly a family affair for the Watts. Despite giving birth three short months ago, Cory's wife Harmony has been running regularly and she's entered in the five-kilometre race.

"She got right back at it," said Cory. "She was trying to run every day (in August) but that (forest fire) got her."

Cory has a long history of Labour Day success in the 8.5 mile individual event. He's won it at least once, and dating back to 2000 finished second three times and placed third overall three times. He only once has been tempted to compete in the grueling 17-mile race, and pulled out after one lap.

"I was entered in the Victoria Marathon at the time and halfway through the (Labor Day) race I said, 'I'm stopping right now, I'm running a marathon in 2 1/2 weeks,'" he said. "That second lap can be pretty lonely. The 8.5-mile race is fun because there are more people around."
