World-calibre musicians, pianist Craig Rutenberg and tenor Ben Heppner, above, who is recognized as the finest dramatic tenor before the public today, filled the Vanier Hall Sunday night. B.C. is Heppner's home Province. He will be playing in Prince George, Dawson Creek, Kamloops, Vernon, Kelowna, White Rock and Salt Spring Island.

A northern British Columbian is among the stellar names on the Order of Canada appointments this year.

The announcement was made Tuesday that Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, Governor General of Canada, will preside over an Order of Canada investiture ceremony at Rideau Hall on Friday. She will bestow the honour on four Companions, 19 Officers and 30 Members of the national order.

One of Canada's most heralded music talents in history, operatic tenor Ben Heppner, is among the 53 honourees. Heppner, raised in Dawson Creek with family ties to Prince George, will be given the title of Companion of the Order of Canada.
