    Bell fights back on HST

Prince George North MLA Pat Bell isn't backing down in the face of former premier Bill Vander Zalm's attack on the harmonized sales tax.

During a speech at UNBC last week, Vander Zalm said Victoria's goal is to collect $2 billion through the HST which works out to $500 for each British Columbian, or $2,000 for a family of four.

Vander Zalm's analysis is "overly-simplistic," Bell countered, and pointed to an analysis in the recent provincial budget that shows the impact to be much less once breaks in income tax introduced to offset the HST are taken into account.
