Joey Laviolette has travelled across four time zones from Halifax to renew old boxing ties with Kenny Lally.
A two-time carded member of the national team A-team, Laviolette knows that no matter what happens in the ring tonight in his Emerald Gloves main event fight at the Northern Sport Centre against Lally, the hometown favourite, the outcome will not jeopardize his standing with Boxing Canada.
He just wants to become a better boxer, and he can think of no better opponent than Lally to help him tune up his fists as he prepares for the 2010 Commonwealth Games
"He's a smart fighter and and you can never count him out of the fight," said Laviolette, a three-time national champion."
The fights start at 7 p.m. tonight.
