There'll be a whole lot of shakin' going on at Theatre North West's upcoming production, All Shook Up, which opens Nov. 19. The scene is set in a small, sleepy town in the mid-west during the 1950s. What could cause a greater stir than a hip-swivelin', lip-curlin' roustabout riding into town on his motorcycle with his guitar slung over his back. It's a magical evening of laughter and Elvis music as the entire town goes into a spin over Chad's sexy music that gets the attention of everyone from the mayor and sheriff to the kids at the soda shop. The arrival and new sound by Chad, played by Michael Antonakos of Vancouver, brings turmoil and exciting changes to the small community. Natalie, the town's female auto mechanic played by Trish Lindstrom of Toronto, is immediately enthralled with Chad The local bar keeper is a black haired, brown eyed woman called Sylvia played by Michelle White of Toronto who has performed in many musicals from Showboat and Chicago to Wizard of Oz and The Lion King. The production, which plays through Dec. 6, marks the TNW debut for Antonakos, Lindstrom and White, but returning to the local stage will be David Beairsto who will play the role of Natalie's father. Local audiences have been enjoying Beairsto on stage since the 1990s in such tales as The Foreigner, Wild Guys and The Foursome, Leading Ladies (Jack), and Lend Me A Tenor (Max). This production, calling for musicians, will feature Yanik Giroux of Victoria on keyboard, Alan Long of Saskatoon on drums and Chris Bialuski of Prince George on guitar. All Shook Up is based on the songs of Elvis Presley and the book by Joe Dipietro. Tickets at Books and Co. or by calling 250-614-0039 are $28 for adults 17 years and older; and $24 for youth. Two matinees are offered at 2 p.m. Nov. 29 and Dec. 6. For more information call 250-563-6969.
