From the frying pan into the fire. Thats where the Prince George Spruce Kings find themselves this weekend. Coming off a disappointing 4-1 loss at home to Quesnel Tuesday, the Spruce Kings will have to find a way to elevate their game considerably to keep pace with tonights opponents, the first-overall Vernon Vipers. The Vipers (18-1-0-0) are just one loss short of perfection with the season nearly one-third complete. They have yet to lose a point in nine road games and have won 11 straight games. Eight Vipers are averaging more than one point per game. Defensively, their 1.70 team goals-against average is by far the best in the 18-team BCHL. The fifth-place Kings (7-12-1-1) are at home to the Williams Lake Timberwolves on Saturday. n Spruce Kings centre Brooks Robinson is the BCHLs player of the week. The 20-year-old from Duncan collected two goals and six points in a pair of weekend games last week. He picked up four points, including the game-winning goal, and was first star in a 7-5 win in Quesnel. The following night in a 4-3 loss to Trail at the Coliseum he assisted on two goals. Robinson now leads the Kings in scoring with eight goals and 23 assists for 31 points in 21 games. Hes fourth overall in league scoring.
