The jury has reached a verdict in the coroner's inquest into the death of Cheryl Ann Bouey.
Bouey, 42, was ruled by the jury to have died as a result of suicide carried out by hanging herself in a Prince George RCMP cell on June 26, 2008 between the hours of 2:17 a.m. and 2:22 a.m.
After about three hours of deliberation, the chief recommendation made by the jury of three men and two women was for the City of Prince George to carry out the proposed construction of a new police station.
This was listed last among their 10 recommendations, but it was first in terms of overarching community impact.
For a full account of the jury's verdict, see tomorrow morning's edition of The Citizen.

So some technical upgrades wont help at all( hopefully they may be one of the reccomendations as well).. Instead lets waste 50 more million dollars.. I sure hope the first 9 reccomendations cost 50 million each as well because the way this city council is spending money foolishly they will easily put us deeper in debt without any thought at all.

thats one way to get the new office built hey...lack of regard for inmates is one thing i have heard, walked by two or three times, no attempts at cpr or life saving tactics, slow to respond to the emergency in one of their cells...and what makes a new 50 million dollar precinct better...are the officers suddenly going to more checks, and know what to do in the next circumstance, next time it will be underwear fashioned for a noose...what is the eventuality going to be, more attentiveness or less clothing so the guards don't have to monitor them???
