The halls of Glenview were a myriad of witches, pirates and other magical, scary beings on Friday. There was Halloween storytelling with Mrs. Hilder and the leadership students, a costume parade and a wonderful Jack-o-lantern display which many students contributed to.
Glenview is especially proud of two of or students. Kira Mori is spearheading a food and donation collection drive for the SPCA and Alexis Hick who presented to the PAC a proposal to help fund leadership camp.
Her speech was so phenomenal the PAC has agreed to donate 50 per cent of the camp costs.
On Monday all students and staff celebrated, 'Drop Everything and Read" by bringing a favourite book to the gym and reading together for 20 minutes. Judo has started at Glenview. Thanks to the PAC, all students began lessons with instructor Bruce Kamstra and will have two weeks to learn the basics of judo.

Heather Park Middle School raised $1282.78 for the Terry Fox Foundation from our recent coin drive. Congratulations to Pod 3 for donating the most money and earning the popcorn and movie reward. Thanks to all the teachers for their reminders/encouragement to their students
and to Ms. Weisgarber for organizing the coin collection. The winner of HPMS’s first major TAG (Together Achieving Greatness) draw of the year was Kyle R. who won an iPod shuffle. TAG is a school-wide program that recognizes positive student choices/behaviours.
Many classrooms enjoyed celebrating Halloween in a variety of ways - from scavenger hunts, special movies and class parties, as well as haunting the hallways in Halloween costumes. Prizes were awarded for best dressed, scariest, funniest and most creative costumes. Mrs. Girard took several different groups of students to ‘Kaptain Killmore and his House of 1,000 Souls,’ a haunted thrill adventure and fundraiser for Prince George’s Loyal Order of Moose, housed in the former SAAN store in the Hart Centre Mall.
The Quebec 2010 group’s garage and bake sale fundraiser takes place on Saturday at HPMS in the gym and multipurpose room from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All money raised will be divided among the 35 students heading out from Jan. 27 to Feb. 1.

On Oct. 29 and 30, the students of Pineview elementary school took part in many Halloween activities.On Thurs. morning,several intermediate students dressed in Halloween costumes and read the "spooky" stories they had prepared to the primary classes. This activity took place under the direction of Mrs. Chanter, the school librarian.
On Oct. 30, all the students were invited to the first half of the Halloween Dance. Admission was a loonie, or a canned or boxed food item. More than 150 food items were collected for the Food Bank.Many parents and teachers also dressed up and attended the dance. At 12:45, the primary students took part in the costume parade.After they left the gym in parade style, the Grades 4 to 7 students stayed on to dance.Halloween parties, games, crafts, and videos completed the afternoon of fun activities.

Sacred Heart school will mark Remembrance Day with a prayer service on Nov. 10. This solemn service will commence at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart cathedral. The Grade 2/3 students will perform "The Harmonica", the story of a Jewish boy who created hope in the hearts of his fellow concentration camp prisoners by playing the music of Schubert. The P.S.G. at Sacred Heart school held a very successful Halloween dance in the school auditorium on Oct. 30.Fantastic costumes and terrific dancing made it an enjoyable evening for all. Sincere thanks to the many people who be attending the school's 60th anniversary mass at Sacred Heart cathedral today. Mrs. Murphy has organized historical photos, a slide show and reception to rekindle school memories.

cole Austin Road students paraded around with their Halloween costumes on Friday, trailing in and out of classrooms, adding more skeletons, princesses, fairies, and even Jasons to the parade train.
Students battled the heavy rain and brought decorated pumpkins to the school before the day started to put on display during the day. Mrs. Beach's afternoon kindergarten class got up early this morning and joined Mrs. McLachlan's kindergarten class for one big and exciting celebratory party. Parents dropped off juice, fruit, and there was even a chocolate-dipped Oreo sucker to go home in their backpacks.

Things have been busy at Nukko Lake. We have been running hard and just completed our running season. We totalled almost 1,400 km, enough to run to Vancouver to see those Olympics and run home. Leadership students organized our Terry Fox Run and the Turkey Trot where a turkey,two2 chickens and three pies were given to students who put in the effort to run. A dozen students attended the cross country meet at Rainbow Park. Leadership students organized Halloween activities in the gym at lunch where they enjoyed activities including minigolf, hanging treats, pumpkin bowling, the haunted house, and witches brew. The choir is gearing up to sing at our Remembrance Day assembly and our music classes are learning to play the ukeleles. Several of our senior leadership students are planning a bake sale to raise money so that they can go to a leadership camp at Ness Lake.


Duchess Park's student leadership, Me to We and Charity Crew collected several boxes of food for local food banks. The students were thrilled by the response of the neighbourhood and community. The senior boys soccer team played in a great zone tournament in William's Lake this past weekend. The boys defeated Colmuneetza and the lost a close match to DP Todd. The senior girls are heading off to Vernon this weekend and the senior boys are hosting "Bringing Down the Roof". The boy's tournament will be the last volley ball tournament hosted in the existing Duchess Park field house. On Tuesday the Drama classes and the school band will be hosting two Remembrance Day assemblies. It is our opportunity to stop, think, reflect about the sacrifices that so many have made for our freedom. The ceremonies are being held at 10:10 and 10:45 a.m., parents,
guardians and community members are welcome.

Ms. Snider will be using the art of storytelling to teach aboriginal history, culture and beliefs about the natural world from the many different aboriginal cultures across Canada in each of the primary classrooms of Highglen montessori elementary school.
The students along with Ms. Malin in Mrs. Dionne’s class worked on a Canada alphabet book art project in class and their work will be displayed at the UNBC art show from Nov. 12 to 26. The Teaching and Learning Building is open in the evening and weekends for the public to view this work and visit the art show.
All parents are welcome to the Library on Tuesday for the PAC/PGMES meeting at 6:30 p.m.
