With over 1,200 signatures on a petition pet owners are hoping for the city's first off-leash dog park.
There are currently three multi-use parks in the city that dogs can be off leash. Annie Booth, dog owner and foster care coordinator at the SPCA, said the areas aren't ideal for sharing.
Booth said owners are also asking council to consider an off-leash park accessible for seniors. Council referred the matter to staff who will develop some options for considerations.

How about Cottonwood Island Park?

Cottonwood Island should be an off leash park. Dogs fetch on the grass, swim in the river, etc. Having to leash the dog is very inconvenient when they're fetching in the river! Certainly if you own one of those "dangerous" breeds the dog should have a muzzle. I know Cottonwood was an off leash park at one time. Lets see it be one again.
