Elected officials will examine the possibility of staff reductions through attrition as they prepare for budget talks in February.
Councillor Cameron Stolz, who sits on the finance committee, said a four percent increase for Fire and RCMP means that money needs to come from somewhere else.
Council will also look at cutting things like flower boxes and decorative street boxes.

Cut IPG instead; it's not rocket science

They want to try and beautify downtown, yet they are going to take away a few inexpensive floral arrangements and leave the million-dollar useless mouthpiece on First Avenue? What's next? I know...maybe we can cut some more funds from pothole repair and snow removal, and raise our garbage rates some more, while at the same time giving Tim McEwan more staff to send to China and stay in fancy hotels while giving Powerpoint presentations on our runway. Or maybe we can hire another $100K spin doctor for the city...heck two's better than one right?

Fetterly, you have my vote next election, 100%. Enjoy the chair while you can, Dan...cuz you won't be back. It's time to get rid of useless mouthpieces and bring in a council that's in touch with the realities of Prince George taxpayers.

Well, considering the City just hired a new Communications Manager worth over $100,000 and a clean air ambassador hired on at $42,000 is it any wonder where the money is going?? Come on, give your heads a shake, the City had the opportunity to make cutbacks while the rest of the economy has been suffering but didn't. I agree with Tombstone, prioritize and make good decisions on staff cutbacks and not to our city improvements.

I agree we need some strong city leadership but don't think Fetterly is the man. We need someone with a strong business sense and the ourage to tackle real issues. No more stalling techniques, useless studies, etc. I'm dissappointed in the current council too. Lots of campaign promises and no action. That airport fiasco is an utter disgrace. I'd love to see someone like Ben Meisner run for mayor. Someone who stands behind what they say.
