Ive had an attempted mugging by a couple of black kids, had my car broken into by a couple Asian kids, been ripped off by countless white guys, and yes, I even punched out an Indian guy for trying to put his hand in my front pocket. Do you see where i'm going with this Granny? Regardless of what anybody tells you on tv lol, I can assure you that every race and nationality has it's share of creeps. Give us all a break.

The rest of the dumb-asses you mentioned don't have their social and cultural representatives going on TV and blaming the victims for the attack. Every culture except for the FN regularly disown and condemns punks like these.

While I agree that you make a very good point White Eyes, I can't stop thinking that perhaps these FN representatives also have a point. You can't treat a group of people worse than s%$t for a hundred years and then expect them to miraculously rebound into well balanced productive members of society. We started this mess (White Eyes), and so far we have done a poor job of cleaning it up. Having said that, I agree with you when you say the FN community has taken little accountability for their actions as a whole lately, it does seem as if they blame poor behavior on everything and everyone but themselves. I think this ends with each and every Canadian citizen being recognized equally. No more Indian Affairs, no more reserves, no more extra incentives for some and not others, these things breed segregation and fuel racist hatred. I personally dislike the term First Nation.....We are Canadians, we are ONE NATION.

some poor lady got robbed and everyone right away spotlights on the race of the criminals??? what about the poor lady?? what if the paper said she was native or white or east indian or some other race, would you start attacking her for getting attacked???

come on man? who care if the robbers were native or white?? they are criminals none the less and need to be caught and charged for their crime.

If that means you are not living in PG? You might not be familiar with the area,could have been a couple of pimps collecting.If the incident happened in an alley off east hastings I would pose the same queation. I was`nt suggesting anyone deserves to be assulted or brutalized for any reason,but when your strolling in that area at certain times of the day or evening even with 5 bucks in your pocket you could get robbed for yhat,,,

yes i'm a xpgresident....although i lived there for 35 years prior to moving.

while in pg i lived and various areas of town including the VLA A.K.A. "THE HOOD"..i actually grew up there just off upland street in the townhouses there near the first liter pub. i went to carney hill school for part of my schooling.

Nothing against you Vogel. It just that the VLA area and people that have lived in and around it for most of their lives find themselves having to stand up for themselves because of where they live. Not everyone in the VLA sells drugs, does drugs or is a prostitute or pimp. There are alot i mean alot of hard working people that live in the VLA area. I was one of those people until work brought me to where i am now. My mother i s a home owner there now and has been for the last 30 years.

I guess what i'm getting at is that just because someone had $500 stolen from them in and around Mc donalds does not mean they were up to no good. i understand your mentality towards that area and what goes on there (and other parts of pg). But that does not mean that eveyone has to be labeled and or have there integrity questioned just because they have been robbed of money while in that area?

I've read lots of news reports in the Citizen where the assailants are white too. Doesn't it make sense that maybe the police are identifying the race in describing what the attacker looks like? I don't think they are doing it to point out any specific race or single out any ethnic groups.

Sadly the only thing that will probably stop these guys from doing it again is getting killed. Even if the cops did catch them what do they get? Nothing but a dry place to sleep and some food in their bellies for a month or so if that. Then they are back on the streets to do it again. The criminal justice system is a joke and until that it repaired you will continue to hear about things like this on what is sure to be a daily occurrence.

well first off if you lived in the vla for s long as you did you know this area to be high traffic for drugs, mcd's is a common meeting ground for that area, as is the park between the two uplands, she wasn't on a sidewalk she was in an alley...with 500 dollars cash...three things pop out...alley by mcd's, early morning still dark, and 500 dollars... it deosn't say she was dragged so it was probably a debt repayment that went wrong

and especially that area by mcds and 7-11 is a very netorious area for dark area "legally voided activities" for many years...

and being a hard worker living in that area is fine, but while you were sleeping for work the beating heart of the hood was hard at work keeping its image as the hood...and is still labeled as such for good reason..this incident being one of them...now this incident made it to papers...which means there are probably hundreds in that same area that didn't...it gets dealt with in the blood for blood scenarios of the streets
