Grants of up to $1,500 are now available from the city to help local groups pay for their contributions to this season's WinterLights celebration.
The grants offset up to half the cost of such projects as decorating a neighbourhood in a winter lights theme, hosting a special event with a winter theme or sprucing up a window of a small business. Other ideas are welcome.
For more information or to get an application form go to www.city.pg.bc.ca and click on Residents Information and then click on WinterLights or call city hall at 561-7640.
Applications must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2.

I really wish they would refrain from calling these things "Grants". They are in fact, "taxpayers dollars" that are being handed out to special interest groups for the pleasure of a few.

Perhaps these people should wake up, smell the bacon and hand this money over for healthcare and education!
