In the early hours of Friday, three youths were apprehended by police after breaking into numerous vehicles in the Hart Highlands area.
Police seized a large quantity of property from the suspects and are now looking for the owners of the property.
If your vehicle was broken into overnight in the Highland area, south of Austin Road, contact RCMP, Sgt. Andrichuk, or Const. Matlock, File No. 2009-18406 at 250-561-3300.

Hopefully these are the kids that have been breaking into cars at the apartment building (the only one in the Hart) for the past couple months. But who knows, there are so many young kids who wander around the Hart Mall all night.

Young offenders act

I say print their names.. have these criminals and other youths who break the law be held responsible for their actions. Not being able to publish their names or their criminal records not following them into adult hood is wrong. Most of them get a free pass once the become adults.. They get to start their criminal lives over again. Printing their names for all the world to see may be a much better deterent then a slap on the wrist.

I actually agree with you...it would be different if these were kids who were just messing around, or having fun or had made a mistake and done something like this once. But I guarantee that these are the kids that I'm thinking of who hang around this neighbourhood, and they are kids with a reputation for doing this sort of thing. Kudos to the cops however - they were driving around looking for these kids last night, asking around, and they found them. Nice to see they care - I've never lived downtown and I'm sure there are problems there too, but I've had my car broken into way too many times for living in a relatively safe, quiet neighbourhood.

they are lucky we are in canada where their punishment will be grounded in their room with their xbox and computer...could be worse, could have their hands cut off for stealing...what a deterent that would be no repeat offenders and everyone would know what they did

I hope their parents are held accountably for the damage they have caused.

Why
written by P val , July 06, 2009 (06:16:47 PM)
The kids did the crime so they should be help responsible not the parents. Make the kids pay for the cost of the crimes. Holding the parents responsible is another way of letting these little pukes off.

Most of the "little pukes" are that way (in most cases) due to lack of parental interest/control. If some parents spent a little more time with their kids and tried to instill better values we might not have as many of these problems as we do today.
Ultimately parents should be responsible for their kids.

What

Alrighty Granny.. tell me why I will be kissing their "you know whats" if they are homeless..

As for instilling better values I do agree with you 100% PGD,..but some kids just dont care.. have no compassion at all and does not matter what they are taught from their parents.. they are just going to be a drain on society.
