The proposed peforming arts centre is worth considering as a public-private partnership, according to a recently-completed report from Partnerships B.C.
In an early screening, the proposal scored a 31 on Partnership BC’s 50-point scale, where 25 points are needed to qualify as a potential public-private partnership.
The next step is to take the proposal through a more thorough review.
A summary of the report will be provided to city council tonight.
Also on tonight's agenda:
- The Railway and Forestry Museum will give an update on its activities.
- Council will be asked to accept an offer from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts to fund and undertake a community heritage context planning study.
- Council will consider filing a notice against title for 6713 Westmount Dr.
City building inspector Ernie Maleniza is alleging the building at the site will be unsafe because the foundation was not protected from the cold winter weather, leading to two "huge" cracks in the foundation.
As well, Maleniza alleges an eight-foot excavation around the foundation was left open during the winter and during the spring meltwater between three and four feet deep collected and part of the exterior stud wall is about to collapse.
And Maleniza alleged the site was left without barricades or fencing to prevent unauthorized entry to the uncompleted building, a four-unit housing complex.
Council will also consider requiring the owner to put up a fence around the site by July 8.
- Council will consider adding 3,500 more hours to the city transit service at a cost of $124,000 to the local taxpayer.
- Steps to achieve Bear Smart status in Prince George will be presented to council for consideration.
