I was out investigating an accident scene on Chief Lake Road and I noticed the white line of that road drops off into the gravel.
After all the time that the city paving crews put in on that corner, they did not complete the job to safety standards, in order to keep those trucks and all other traffic on their own side of the road safely. The city is at fault for doing an incomplete and unfinished piece of road work.
There should have been a warning sign put there after the crash, yet I noticed on Sunday that it is still the way it was before the crash -- no warning sign.
There is a cross and flowers already in place from another death relating to that corner. That driver was on the white line as was I when my pickup hit the edge, being sucked into the ditch. I as well was put into a situation of concern. Had I been pulling a trailer, things may have ended differently for me as well.
Please feel free to drive on the safety line, or the fog line and see for yourself how unsafe the city left that roadway. As I see it, the city should be held accountable for leaving a road unfinished with no danger signs.
