The Prince George Community Foundation distributed earned interest funds back to those organizations who have endowment funds invested with the foundation.
The earned income for 14 organizations totalled $37,675 over the past year.
Those receiving funds from their ongoing endowment accounts are: Central B.C. Railway and Forestry Museum; Child Development Centre; College of New Caledonia; Community Arts Council; Cranbrook Hill Greenway Society; Fraser-Fort George Museum Society for Exploration Place; Prince George Hospice Society Endowment Fund; Prince George Library Legacy; Prince George Symphony Orchestra; Prince George United Way; Springboard to Success Scholarship Fund; School District 57; Theatre North West and Two Rivers Gallery.
During the distribution of funds during a Thursday night reception, PGCF president Les Waldie recognized the organizations for their many contributions to the community and the "tremendous support" they receive from dedicated volunteers.
Waldie also announced a contribution of $5,000 from proceeds raised at the Citizen of the Year gala in October. The funds go into an endowment fund in the name of Michael Kerr, the current Citizen of the Year.
