It was a good news, not-so-good news type of weekend for the Freightliner peewee Tier 2 Cougars. The good happened Saturday night in Quesnel, where the Cougars walked off with a 5-1 Cariboo Amateur Hockey Association victory. There wasnt quite as much joy in the visitors dressing room after the rematch Sunday, a 7-6 Quesnel victory. The Cougars, coached by Gibby Chasse, will be back on the ice this weekend in Kamloops for a tournament. Prince George opens against Kelowna Friday morning and has an evening matchup booked against Whitehorse. n The Farr Fabricating Cougars couldnt put together any victories on the weekend. The bantam Tier 1 team was in Penticton for a pair of exhibition games and lost 8-1 on Saturday and 4-2 on Sunday. In the opener, Kody Disher was the only man who solved the Penticton goaltending. In the rematch, Kirk Hards and Chase Witala scored the Prince George goals. Nathan Warren was the Farr Fab goaltender in the first game and Jared Young got the call in the second game. The Cougars will be in a tournament this weekend, and they wont have to travel anywhere. They are hosting a six-team event at the Kin Centre.
