The Duchess Park Condors couldn’t contain the big man for the Fraser Valley Christian Falcons. As a result, the Condors lost their chance to play for gold at the double-A boys high school volleyball provincial championship tournament.
Friday night in Kelowna, the Falcons defeated the Condors 25-20, 25-19, 18-25, 25-20 in a playoff semifinal match. David Kloomps of Fraser Valley was the difference-maker in the contest.
“We had problems stopping their key hitter (Kloomps) on the right side,” said Condors coach Glenn Wong. “He’s their go-to guy and we just couldn’t stop him. He had a hot serve going too, and we had difficulties passing that serve up.”
Today at 2 p.m. the Condors will battle Langley Christian for bronze. Langley Christian lost to top-seeded MEI in Friday’s other semifinal. The College Heights Cougars of Prince George will play Clarence Fulton of Vernon today for fifth and sixth place in the 16-team tournament.
