New manager found for CN Centre Print E-mail

A new manager has been found for CN Centre.
Andy Beesley, a well-known member of the Prince George community, has been hired, city hall announced Thursday.
“We were looking for a very specific person for this position, someone who has superior people skills, a solid business background, as well as success working with community groups and the general public,” city community services director Tom Madden said in a press release.
“With Andy filling this role, we have gained an extremely experienced person in terms of the
wide range of skills and experience we were looking for”
Beesley's background includes roles in management positions, facilitating strategic planning and team building, teaching interpersonal skills, as well as experience in the entertainment industry, both on stage and behind the scenes.
“He even used to work in an arena, driving the Zamboni, sharpening skates, cleaning
the dressing rooms, and booking the facility for entertainment and other user groups," Madden noted.
The job had been open since October 2006 when the city let go its arenas manager and CN Centre supervisor following problems with the ice that forced the postponement of the third period of a Prince George Cougars game.
The city had recently started looking for a a recruitment service to help find a new manager, with a closing date of Dec. 9 for requests for proposals.
Beesley, who starts work on Dec. 15, will also be responsible for community arenas.
“I love to work with people, and this opportunity to work with sports groups, equestrian events, concerts, conventions, special events....is a dream come true for me, and I am honoured to be part of the team that brings all of this to our great city," Beesley said city hall's press release.
The salary range for the position is aobut $78,000 to $92,000 per year.
