(subject gossip) or fax 250-562-7453 or drop it off in a sealed envelope marked "gossip." ---- Getting their feet wet early: Prince George's new city council won't be sworn in until Dec. 1, but three new councillors -- Garth Frizzell, Cameron Stolz and Dave Wilbur -- were interested observers at Enbridge Pipelines' open house Thursday afternoon. ---- It's interesting that no one seems too upset about a giant billboard near Carney Street and First Avenue as you drive downtown that advertises Prince George's Finest Escort Agency, The Kali Project. The website says The Kali Project is a fully licensed escort agency located in Prince George, B.C. Good to see some local businesses are still doing well enough to advertise. ---- A resident from Western Acres near the Jensen Subdivision wants to let the public know that there is still a bear walking around the area and hanging out near a bus stop. "It's been there for about a month and the conservation officers just don't seem interested in it," said the resident. He added part of the problem is when you call the conservation office you get a person in Vancouver, instead of someone local. ----- Hats off to almost all the civic election candidates for swiftly removing their campaign signs throughout the city after last Saturday's election. ---- Some season ticket holders at the Cougars game on family day weren't too impressed by the fact that people who purchased tickets that day received a free hot dog and a pop, while season ticket holders -- who support the team all year -- received nothing. It's a great promotion, but it should include season ticket holders as well. ------- Overheard at one of the polling stations: "On voting day we all become generals -- hello sir, yes sir. Thank you sir." -------- Four of the five new council members are so eager to get going they watched Monday night's meeting -- the last full one for the current council -- from the gallery in council chambers. Those looking on were new councillors Dave Wilbur, Garth Frizzell and Cameron Stolz and mayor-elect Dan Rogers. -------------- One last story from the campaign trail: Rogers opened his campaign with a bit of a splash when he and a handful of supporters cycled out to the Westgate Shopping Centre on a Saturday morning wearing "Team Rogers" jackets and armed with pamphlets. When he got there, the crew set up shop in front of the Canadian Tire and began campaigning. Rogers said he soon discovered that most of the people he approached were from out of town and in the city only to shop at the big-box stores. The team soon moved on to the neighbouring College Heights Plaza where they had more success in making contact with local voters.
