Re: Cabbing to remembrance (letter, Nov. 13). Like Rachel, in order to attend the Remembrance Day ceremony I had to take a cab downtown and back home. We have lived in Prince George since 1966 and I have missed very few ceremonies. However, as I don't drive and my husband's being in Jubilee Lodge for the past two years and unable to attend, I feel I should. He served in the Canadian army in the Second World War and was overseas for more than four years. Taxis are not inexpensive transportation. It seems other Canadian cities have transit service on holidays, why not Prince George? There are many of us seniors who would still like to spend July 1 in the park, B.C. Day, Victoria Day, etc., but have no way of getting their because there is no transit service on those holidays. Last Saturday I had to scrounge a ride from the neighbours to get to the polling station. Had I taken the city bus I would have had a difficult time getting to any one of the polling stations from the bus stop, with the condition of most sidewalks in this city. We will be hoping for some repairs or, in some cases, replacements with some changes at city hall. There were a number of people who did not vote because of where the polling stations were situated. -- Lil Neil Prince George
