Seven exquisite homes in and around Prince George will be featured at the sixth annual Holiday Homes Tour, a fun event that raises funds for the Two Rivers Gallery. As always, the Nov. 23 tour will showcase the creative talents of some of the city's finest interior designers and decorators, who are paired with homeowners. Designers include Bunny Howard, Janet Bigelow, Wendy Pelletier, Leeann Cooper and the Home Harmony Makeovers team of Cleo Shepert and Betty Bernier. The latter will decorate the Prince George Spruce Kings ShowHome at Aberdeen Glen Golf Course. There will also be design teams from Grower Direct and from the gallery, who will decorate a house on Tabor Lake. "It's quite a large house," said Kathy Reston, who is co-ordinating the design. Her team is creating ornaments and decorations that will create an old-time style or feel, as opposed to newer glitz and glamour.'" Reston and company will decorate the house in a natural way that "brings the outdoors in. "The house has huge windows that look onto the lake, so that's what my inspiration has been," said Reston, a trained fashion designer who is a docent (teacher volunteer) at the gallery. "As well as bringing the natural elements in, I thought perhaps to bring in a bit of fabric as well." An artisans fair will be held at the Tabor Lake house. The following artists will be on site showing their wares: Wendy Young, Ute Wilder, Mo Hamilton, Ron Malyk, Karin Dayton, Keith Kerrigan, along with representatives from Shop at the Gallery and 4 Paws Bakery. Last year's tour generated $6,000, which has supported children's programs at Two Rivers. "All the money goes toward helping pay for programming and the exhibition schedule," said Cat Sivertsen, the gallery's fund development and communications officer. The self-guided tour, which includes food producers from Farmers' Market, typically draws upwards of 300 patrons. The Spruce Kings have donated four family passes to season games as a door prize. A draw will be made after the tour. Tickets for the Holiday Homes Tour are $30, available at the gallery. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23.
