The Civic Centre is hosting its seventh annual Winter Wonderland Christmas Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 5.
It's a time for friends and colleagues to celebrate the season together, said Scott Hunyadi, event co-ordinator. The Christmas luncheon menu includes five salads, honey ham and smoked turkey breast with assorted rolls, and a main entree of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and vegetables, capped off with desserts of plum pudding, pumpkin pie, mince meat tarts, eggnog mousse and more. Tickets, at $19, are on sale now and can be picked up at the Civic Centre after Nov. 24. Call 250-561-7723 for more information.

Grade 12 students in B.C. are invited to create a video, up to three minutes long, representing What B.C. Means to Me. The top five videos entered into the BC 150 Youth Video Contest will be featured on the BC 150 website and winning students will receive $2,500 with an additional $2,000 going to their school, as well as, all participating schools will be entered into a random draw for five prizes worth $1,500 each. Coast Mountain Sports in Parkwood Mall will be accepting used winter jackets, non-perishable food items and unwrapped children's toys from Nov. 24 to 30. Donated items will be distributed by St. Vincent de Paul's Society. Customers can enter a draw to win a $200 gift card with each donation.

Forty-five people attended the wine-and-cheese reception in the Prince George Playhouse Monday in connection with the official opening of landscape painter Rod Ferguson's latest exhibition, Mystic Mountains And Majestic Trees.
The paintings include scenes from Prince George; Jasper, Banff, Waterton Lakes and other mountain national parks; and wooded areas in and around Montreal.
The exhibition continues through Dec. 13. You can see it any time the playhouse is open for performances, or by special request by phoning the playhouse at 563-8401.

Handy Circle Resource Society hosted a Loonie Auction recently. The money raised will go towards programs the society provides for people with disabilities and special needs.
