A crash between a dump truck and a pickup has seriously injured one driver at the Norman Lake turnoff on Highway 16 West. The first on the scene happened to be ambulance paramedics and RCMP said that was a "very lucky" turn of events inside the incident. "Both vehicles were westbound on Highway 16 and looks to be a rear-end collision of the pickup into the back end of the dump truck's pup trailer," said the RCMP's Fraser Fort George Traffic Services commander Sgt. Pat McTiernan. "The driver of the pickup truck was transported to PGRH with serious injuries. The driver of the dump truck is uninjured and is assisting investigators." The collision happened just after 11 a.m. Thursday, just ahead of an ambulance transporting a patient to Vanderhoof. They stopped and did initial medical assistance until other paramedics could arrive. Police closed the highway for several hours to allow investigators the ability to analyze the physical evidence.
