Area A incumbent looking at safer hall Print E-mail

Denis Gendron is running as Area A incumbent in the Nov. 15 civic election.
Since the by-election in January 2007, Gendron says he has learned an "enormous amount of information," which he has started to apply to the Salmon River and Lakes area of the Fraser-Fort George Regional District.
With the help of grant assistance, Gendron is happy to see the Ness Lake firehall benefit from a new engine and hall addition. He said he has helped the Nukko Lake Recreation Association revive its failing volunteer group, and looks forward to seeing a safer and more accessible hall. In Salmon Valley, thanks largely to the Farmers' Institute, Gendron said the community association and the curling rink can look forward to a secure future.
Reed Lake has had a "rough time of it," but with funding and goodwill from the people, Gendron is confident the community will survive over the long-term.
Recreation associations in Pilot Mountain and Ness Lake have "maintained a steady stream of activity with grant funding" from his budget, added Gendron, who has also leveraged funds to help form the Salmon River and Lakes Community Foundation.
On the environment front, he has worked diligently to get the Foothills Landfill gas plant utilized to its maximum capacity.
"I am confident that we will see this come to fruition in the near future," Gendron said.
