Warren Wilson, a longtime electrician with Canfor, is looking to win the Area A (Salmon River & Lakes) director's chair of the Fraser-Fort George Regional District come Nov. 15 when residents will cast their vote at the civic election.
The soon-to-be-retiring Wilson is a certified environmental farm planner for the B.C. Agricultural Council.
"I work with farmers to draw attention to and solve environmental concerns on their properties," he said.
Wilson is also committed to protecting the quality of ground water, assisting with weed control in lakes, and reducing landfill by way of recycling bins at manned transfer stations.
In terms of health issues, he hopes to establish teams and arrange first responder training for communities that request it.
Wilson belongs to the Prince George Cattleman's, Nukko Lake Community Association and Lakes Community Cemetery Society. He is also a past-president of the Reid Lake Farmers and District C Farmers institutes, and is vice-president of the FARM Community Council of B.C. He would like to see Crime Watch re-established and a rural police presence increased in every Area A community. If elected, he would lobby for high-speed Internet availability for the entire area, support community development planning within the scope of the Official Community Plan, and meet regularly with community groups to better utilize tax dollars.
