Harris running on his record? Print E-mail

Local MP Dick Harris says that he is "running on his record" in the present election. While examining Mr. Harris' record, two incidents stand out.
Firstly, I seem to remember that he said he recommended the Softwood Lumber Agreement as a good deal for Canada - but admitted that he hadn't read it. In a riding where the forest industry is the primary economic driver, one might reasonably expect that Mr. Harris would at least take the time to read such an agreement, which would have such a profound impact on his constituents before making any comment on it.
Secondly, Mr. Harris said that the residents of the riding to our west - Skeena - needn't bother taking their concerns to their elected NDP MP Nathan Cullen. Harris said that Skeena residents would be better served by taking their concerns to Conservative party insider, Houston mayor Sharon Smith. This suggests to me that, Mr. Harris' has little understanding of or respect for the Canadian system of government.
In my opinion, Mr. Harris doesn't have much of a record to "run on" and will not be receiving my vote.
