Hockey fans in this city need to stop being so cheap and head out to CN Centre tonight and watch the Prince George Cougars take on the Prince Albert Raiders.
The team looks fantastic -- there's no exaggeration or homer journalism going on here, they have a 5-1 record to prove it, including 4-0 at home. But yet the crowd was only 3,750 on Saturday and that's after we put our money where our mouth is and bought 1,000 tickets.
That's just absolutely pathetic for a place that once filmed a Mastercard commercial because of its iconic fans.
What are you waiting for, another Setoguchi-like playoff run before you use the jaws of life to open that wallet? It's well worth the 17 bucks -- only $10 if your a kid and even cheaper if you buy season's tickets.
This isn't the old Cougars. They're young, fast, skilled, determined and have been trying their (rhymes with glasses) off all year.
They've got the best goalie they've ever had and there's loads of young talent up front and solid defence in the back.
Even the front office has really stepped up its game with more events, autograph signings, charity work and promotion than ever before.
The entire organization is really trying to make a go of it this year, so get out there and support them.
Stop all the whining about I wouldn't support that blah, blah, blah. It's time to let all of that junk go and enjoy the here and now.

I agree with this editorial. This team is the best I've seen in many years. Not simply because of star talent but from pure raw energy and enthusiasm. These kids actually want to play here, and it shows on the ice. They aren't a bunch of goons out looking for the third period brawl. I've seen every game at home thus far, and if a fight ensues it's because the opposing teams was chasing the Cougars around looking for one.

They keep coming at the opponents in waves as every line has the ability to be lethal and score a goal. It wears the opposition down. The defense is sound and the guys will do anything to keep the opposition and the puck away from the netminder.

I've done plenty of whining and complaining about this team in past years. This is the team I've been looking for.

I'm there! I agree with the article. This is a hockey town and the players feed off the crowd. I see they're working hard. Okay, they got lazy Saturday when they were ahead but I'm sure that won't happen again.

I hope the turnout is better. I'll be cheering from the stands.

If the Cougars move, all you'll have left are JW conventions and Trade Shows in the CN Centre.
Oh yeah, there's also those wannabe hockey players whose only talent is fighting, if city council will let them come back.
Can you say " tax increase"?
