PRINCE GEORGE SPRUCE KINGSSPRUCE KINGSWES MCLEODSEAN AMBROSIEKEVIN GENOENICK DESOUSAZACH DAVIESBCHL INTERIOR CONFERENCE
Better late than never. After being held scoreless by the Merritt Centennials for nearly 58 minutes, the Prince George Spruce Kings offence finally did what it was supposed to in the late stages Friday night at the Coliseum. Sean Ambrosies power-play goal 17:49 into the third period tied it up, and Nick DeSousa capped the rally for the Kings when he scored the 2-1 winner with nine seconds left in the first overtime period. The win was the second in consecutive nights for the Kings, coming on the heels of Thursdays 6-3 win over Powell River, and it improved the Kings record to 7-3-1-0 to remain in first place in the BCHL Interior Conference. The last-place Cents (1-10-0-0) held on to a 1-0 lead through most of the game on the strength of a power-play goal from Dylan Herold, 3:17 into the game. The game-winner came on a scramble in front of the Merritt net. Kings defencemen Wes McLeod and Zach Davies got the puck deep on Cents goalie Harrison May, who made the first save but gave up a rebound for DeSousa, the rookie from Fraser Lake, who collected his third BCHL goal. Kevin Genoe made 16 saves in the nets for the Kings, who went 1-for-9 on the power play.
