Patrick G. Giroux, 36, was sentenced in Prince George provincial court Thursday to a global nine months of new time in jail after pleading guilty possession of property obtained by crime, theft over $5,000, mischief under $5,000 and related counts. On Sept. 25, 2006, was staying with a woman in Rycroft, Alta., when he took her vehicle without her consent. He drove it to Grande Prairie, where he pawned some of the things in her truck. He drove on to Dawson Creek, where he ditched the vehicle. The woman got her vehicle back, and police recovered her things that Giroux had pawned in Grande Prairie. In October 2006 the woman took Giroux back in. On Oct. 21, 2006, he took her vehicle and dropped it off in Beaver Lodge. Later he was ordered to go the RCMP to be fingerprinted, but he failed to show. On Sept. 29, 2006 Giroux drove a stolen GMC Jimmy to the Co-op parking lot in Peace River, smashed out the window of a vehicle there and began emptying it of its contents worth $3,100. He also took a grain tester and cell phone from a lawyer's vehicle and in addition made away with a laptop and other items. The owner of the first vehicle identified the things that had been taken from his vehicle. ------------- Delilah A. Joseph, 28, was sentenced Thursday to 90 new days in jail after pleaded guilty to one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of obstructing a police officer. A year of probation will follow. On Sept. 19 Joseph and a man approached a man in a downtown lane and asked for his cell phone. He asked for it back, but it was not returned. He was told he would be finished if he called police. Police later located Joseph and the man who was with her during the incident. She gave a wrong name to a police officer.
