The Prince George Korean Church congregation has donated $1,200 to a scholarship fund established by College of New Caledonia in memory of student Jieun (Ashley) Kim, who died March 30 following a traffic accident. "When we heard about CNC's fund, our congregation talked about how we could make a donation," so we decided to have a huge garage sale," said Pastor Young Hun Jang. The sale was supported enthusiastically by the Korean Church congregation and the Pentecostal Church, which offered its parking lot, chairs and tables for the event on Sept. 6. Kim, like most Korean students attended the Korean Church. "It's a very supportive place for Korean students to maintain their culture and meet other Koreans, while making the adjustment of living in Canada," said Micki Lalonde, CNC manager of international recruitment "This is a wonderful way to remember Ashley. Her family will feel this is an honour for her to be able to help other students." CNC president John Bowman said the college and International Education department are grateful for the support provided to the scholarship fund by the church congregation.
