LANGLEY, B.C. - Police say thieves have stolen five pieces of First Nations artwork from a museum at the Fort Langley National Historic Site.

RCMP Const. Holly Marks says someone broke a window to get into the building and shattered the glass of a display case before making off with three masks, a drum and a cedar basket.

Marks says the art belongs to the Kwantlen First Nation and is worth about $5,500.

She says the heist occurred between 8:30 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Police are asking for the public's help in locating the pieces.

Last month, the RCMP recovered the last two of 10 art pieces by acclaimed Haida artist Bill Reid that had been stolen from a museum at the University of British Columbia in May.
