CANADIAN COUNCIL
A letter in the Aug. 29 Citizen (Maple Leaf reaping rewards of deregulation) implied that Thomas d'Aquino, chief executive and president of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives (CCCE), and Prime Minister Stephen Harper are partly responsible for the deaths linked to the recent outbreak of listeriosis. The letter also asserted that the CCCE believes the food industry should be self-regulated. These suggestions are without substance and The Citizen apologizes to Mr. d'Aquino and Mr. Harper.
